I guess we are heading to the local Audi dealer to check on a 2013 Allroad with 80k miles. At least it’s not black or silver. She is thinking of replacing her trouble free (until recently) Acura RL with 190k+ on the clock. She’s potentially got some big ticket repairs and tires in the near future so starting to shop. We both hate the in person part of car dealerships so wish us luck.
Olive is happy to stay home and chill.

Good luck with the car shopping. I too hate the haggling and BS with dealers.

It’s the worst part really.
I know I am the bane of a dealer’s existence, bit I just want to walk in and window shop several cars without any BS or pressure. Here is my license, thank you for the keys, I’ll see you in 15 minutes.
Uusually the dealers that do get my money are the ones most accommodating to that notion. The others prey on people being cornered and feeling like their only choice is right in front of them.

You’re buying used; why not seek a private seller and spare the fuss of dealers?
Sort out your financing before-hand with your bank or lender of choice, and consider an aftermarket warranty. Shop those as well, even if you go the dealer route, you already have all the details sorted and just need to apply them to a car. That way you aren’t limited to a dealer’s heavily padded pricing on financing and warranties. I usually keep that I have those sorted in my back pocket, until the last moment, so that I can milk the most out of the deal on the front-end, an insufferable effort but can be worthwhile.
On rare occasion a dealer can come out with better pricing on these, but I've only seen it with new cars.

That was my first thought, but newer Allroad > older nightmares. I hope.

Spend the money on repairs and maintenance for the RL. You will save many thousands of dollars.

Idk what part of the country you’re in but I’ve looked at 4 this week to help my best friend upgrade from her deathtrap Cobalt. She picked up a ‘ 16 P+ yesterday, and it’s a phenomenal car. Most shocking to me was all 4 dealerships were truly awesome and not one pressured us. Best of luck! :)
also, the TSI is a great motor since the '13 refresh. just check coolant and water pump and for fluid leaks and it should be solid!

Doesn’t matter. The 2.0 in the newer Allroad will fall to pieces when not taken care of properly. And I would bet a lot of money this Allroad with 80k miles was not taken care of as it should.

I was looking at one like that, same color, at the beginning of the year. I’ve got a black B5 A5 Avant, and was looking for something newer. But I test drove one, and even an A5 Sportback I was looking at, and both just felt... to o much like my B5. I wanted something different. And then someone bought the red allroad I s looking at. I ended up getting a 2020 V60 Cross Country, in Fusion Red. It’s nice not having something in black or silver.

I have an A4 of this generation in the same Volcano Red Metallic . I’ve owned it since 6k miles. It’s been trouble free for 65k miles .
Early B8 A4 ‘s with the 2.0T had issues with piston rings. They burn a LOT of oil. It’s a TSB and if the vehicle meets certain criteria, it can be resolved at the dealer with financial assistance from Audi.
The car you’re looking at is a later B8.5. The issue was resolved by then.
